Automation of Data Update for furniture dealer https://us.ibagroupit.com/cases/rpa-retail-data-update/ Fri, 19 Aug 2022 11:54:06 +0000 https://us.ibagroupit.com/?post_type=cases&p=9006 The post Automation of Data Update for furniture dealer appeared first on IBA Group - USA.

Background

The customer is a retailer of upholstered furniture. Employees regularly receive extensive lists of products: furniture with a description, reference number and price. They need to update the prices of these products in catalogs and stores across different regions. This needs to be done in the web application and in the mainframe. Previously, about 10 employees made all changes manually: they copied data from spreadsheets and published it on websites.

Business Challenge

Automate the updating procedure and save time of company employees for more important tasks.

Solution highlights

The procedure was automated on the EasyRPA platform. Now employees only prepare the initial spreadsheet and upload it to Google Drive folder. The robot monitors the folder every 20-30 minutes. When it extracts the data, it navigates the web applications and the mainframe and inserts the new prices in the right places. At the end, the robot submits a report to the manager with the results.

Project results

Now the solution is being prepared for putting into commercial operation.

Rice Field Analysis System using Drone Photos https://us.ibagroupit.com/cases/big-data-ai-manufacturer/ Mon, 25 Jan 2021 14:36:08 +0000 https://us.ibagroupit.com/?post_type=cases&p=7133 The post Rice Field Analysis System using Drone Photos appeared first on IBA Group - USA.

BUSINESS CHALLENGE

Develop an application to analyze photos made by a drone while flying over rice fields. Count the number of plants that have sprouted on the plots in the photo.

SOLUTION

The IBA Group team implemented image processing algorithms to accurately calculate the number of objects located on them. For end users, we created an application that processes photos, determines the number of plants on them and generates reports in *.csv and *.pdf formats.

Application algorithm:

  • Create a polygonal image of the region of interest.
  • Download satellite image for it (requires Internet connection).
  • Take a calibration photo (taken at the desired measurement height containing two highly visible objects placed on the ground at a distance of 1 m from each other).
  • Take a photo above the field for measurements.
  • Perform calibration procedure using the calibration image.
  • Generate report.

OUTCOME

Thanks to the application, the customer can receive reliable information about the state of rice fields using drones. The project is continuously improving.

Business challenge

Automate the processes of recognition and validation of documents.

Solution

The Company processes lots of orders and contracts every day, most of which are in paper form. There are four different types of orders/contracts. All of them must be entered into the system, validated in other systems and supplemented with new data. Previously, this was done manually by operators.

IBA Group experts took part in the development of a system that automated these processes.

Result

The customer received a system that uses OCR to automate the recognition of four types of contracts. In addition, robots were created to validate documents and obtain additional data.

Business challenge

Migrate the existing procurement management system servicing the manufacturing processes of the automotive manufacturer to the Java platform with subsequent support and development of new system.

Solution

With the support of the customer, IBA Group experts migrated the procurement management system of the automobile group of companies from the SmallTalk platform to the Java platform. At the same time, the project documentation was restored using the code to describe functional behavior of the system. In the period from 2003 to 2005, the IBA Group team reached 100 people.

Since 2005, the IBA Group team continued to support and to develop the new system. During this period, at the request of the customer, modifications were introduced to the system that were required by constantly changing business environment: the opening of new plants, the creation of production sites in new regions, changes in the economy and legislative framework, the development of cooperative relations with other manufacturers of automotive equipment, changes in the customer’s internal processes. Technical changes related to the evolution of the Java platform have also been implemented.

Result

Between 2003 and 2005, the IBA Group team migrated the existing system to the Java platform with a complete replacement of the system in commercial operation with a new system.

Since 2005, the IBA Group team has implemented more than 900 requests for system changes due to new business requirements.

The system is implemented in all customer factories around the world. The total number of system users is about 50,000 procurement specialists.

Hybris-based web portal for a major tire manufacturer https://us.ibagroupit.com/cases/hybris-based-web-portal-for-a-major-tire-manufacturer/ Wed, 20 May 2020 06:55:14 +0000 https://us.ibagroupit.com/?post_type=cases&p=6703 The post Hybris-based web portal for a major tire manufacturer appeared first on IBA Group - USA.

Business Challenge

Migrate existing functionality from the old customer portal to the new Hybris platform.

Solution

The portal was originally based on php. Now all the functionality needs to be migrated to Hybris, including connection to Solr search platform. The project includes development of b2b and b2c application sections integrated with each other.

b2b portal is designed to sell tires to dealers. The dealer may browse the catalog, place and pay for the order, check the order status. For each company, it is possible to create several business units with different delivery addresses. The dealer can view the history of its orders for the last 1.5 years.
All orders are processed by SAP. If individual items from the order arrive on different days, the system will automatically break the order into several shipments.
Member account allows applying for warranty service or sending a notice of defective goods. The portal also has a section with price lists and promotional materials, which are selected individually for each dealer.

b2c-portal is intended for the sale of tire repair and maintenance services. Here one can trace the life cycle of each tire and the places and conditions of winter/summer storage. When a customer places an order in the b2c section of the application, this order is displayed in the b2b section. The dealer may confirm the completion of order execution or service provision.

Results

The application operates in 32 countries in Europe and Africa. Its development is now at the Life Cycle Management stage – bug fixes and functional improvements.

Project Overview

IBA provides support for a number of customer applications including:

  1. Extranet n-Tier B2B application designed to automate the development of distribution programs allowing our business partner to manage the growth in demand within a distribution channel. As a result, both internal and external users (customers) are able to utilize and process efficiently the data that are distributed between various sources.
Internet n-Tier B2C application designed to provide warranty support to the users of our partner’s hardware.
  2. Extranet B2B web application that supports warranty returns by OEMs, distributors and resellers (Return Material Authorization). The application is ultimately flexible and easily customizable to the needs of each specific user.
  3. A number of intranet applications that perform a range of functions for more than 18,000 users worldwide. These are applications like company-wide employee directory, employee CADP (Contribution Assessment and Development Plan) tracking, hardware deployment tracking, and etc.

All extranet and internet applications are implemented using the MVC (Model Viewer Controller) model. The front-end of the systems is using JSP, Java Servlets, DHTML, and Struts technologies and is hosted on IBM WebSphere four server cluster. The business logic is implemented using the EJB. Data between different application tiers flow in XML format using IBM MQSeries (JMS) as transport. IBM DB2 UDB cluster is used as a data storage system. The system interacts with SAP R/3 as a back end. All intranet applications are built on Vignette Application Portal.

Project Execution

IBA responsibilities include:

  • Functional requirements definition in collaboration with the partner’s business operations team and application owners
  • Application design based on the functional requirements in collaboration with the partner’s architects
  • Application development and unit testing
  • Processing of customer service requests assigned by the applications’ help desk. Based on the customer severity, IBA reacts to the requests for service within a certain time frame (e.g. 24 hrs, 3 days, etc.)

  • Interaction with customers to work out the details of customer requirements
  • Analysis and improvement of application performance
  • Based on the business and/or customer needs, development of applications’ enhancements
  • Ongoing applications’ administration
  • Updating the applications’ code to utilize new technology versions and testing the changes to produce new releases of the supported systems
  • Continuous study of new technologies and the possibility to apply these technologies in the supported systems

Project Results

IBA is providing remote support for customer applications on a daily basis. As a result, our customer achieved significant cost reduction and could focus its IT staff on problem areas and the activities that bring the greatest return.
